May 29, 2011, was the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, and the day I married my best friend.
Before the wedding, he looked like this:
So far unimpressed. |
And I looked like this:
My look of disbelief at just how long it takes to get your hair done. |
And by the end of a perfect, sunny, beautiful afternoon, we looked like this:
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
The weekend consisted of a long drive up to my hometown in far northern California from our college town in southern California, a thunderstorm the night before the wedding, lots of cupcakes baked and frosted, a last minute dance rehearsal for our awesome DWTS-esque first dance (thanks, YouTube!) to Dream Theater, lots of relatives and friends, a huge wedding party in soccer-themed outfits,
Our wedding party was enormous(ly awesome!) |
people of all ages dancing the Macarena, a brown chicken brown cow cake topper, a hectic morning that had Jane and me running all over town trying to find a hairdresser that was available on Sundays (which we didn't; again, thank you, YouTube!), and our epic post-reception soccer game, among many, many other fun things.
It was, to date, the happiest day of our lives.
But we're going to top that, eventually.
